Warehouse Operative

Role Overview

Working Pattern:

¨    Monday – Thursday     7:45 AM to 5:00 PM, one hour lunch

¨    Friday     8 AM to 3:00 PM, one hour lunch

¨    39 hrs per week

Contract Type: Fixed Term

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor

Job Summary

The Fabrication & Warehouse Operative plays a key role in supporting both production of modular steel assemblies and daily warehouse operations. The role involves cutting and assembling steel components according to technical drawings, handling warehouse processes including goods-in/goods-out and ensuring inventory accuracy. The position requires strong attention to detail, physical capability, and the ability to work efficiently against tight deadlines.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Fabrication Responsibilities

¨    Read and interpret technical drawings

¨    Assemble steel components into finished frames according to project requirements

¨    Operate industrial cutting tools and fabrication equipment

¨    Prefabricate and cut Sikla steel components

¨    Inspect components and assemblies for accuracy and quality

¨    Report defects, inaccuracies, and discrepancies

¨    Pack assembled frames

¨    Maintain clean tools and a tidy workshop environment

¨    Support warehouse team with fabrication tasks when required

Warehouse Responsibilities

¨    Receive and process incoming orders

¨    Pick, pack, load and unload goods with lifting equipment

¨    Check accuracy of deliveries for domestic, export, and industrial projects

¨    Report mistakes or incorrect deliveries immediately

¨    Use ERP systems to carry out standard warehouse processes

¨    Use Kardex vertical lifting module (preferred)

¨    Ensure all stock is stored in the correct locations

¨    Conduct stock checks

¨    Follow warehouse procedures and route card instructions

¨    Assist with daily logistics operations

¨    Maintain high health & safety standards and a clean working environment

¨    Help minimise picking, packing and loading errors

Technical and Practical Skills

¨    Good numerical and metric measurement skills - essential

¨    Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings

¨    Skilled in using fabrication tools, machinery, and cutting equipment

¨    Ability to lift and carry heavy materials- essential

¨    Previous experience in fabrication or warehouse environments

¨    Experience with ERP systems (required for warehouse-focused work)

¨    Experience using Kardex vertical storage systems - desirable

¨    Valid forklift/combi-lift/stacker licences - desirable

¨    Valid UK manual driving licence
